– Mary Poppins.
With nearly two decades of experience in intellectual property, Mariel partners with businesses to protect, enforce, and enhance the value of their ideas, brands, and innovations — treating each client’s assets with the same care and dedication as if they were her own. She advises on the full range of IP rights — trademarks, patents, industrial designs, copyright, and domain names — with a strong track record in multi-jurisdictional portfolio management. Her practice includes designing local and cross-border filing strategies, representing clients in administrative and opposition proceedings, and negotiating IP-related agreements.
Beyond her legal expertise, Mariel brings strong commercial management and teamwork skills, always approaching business with a results-driven mindset. She leads the firm’s multidisciplinary team advising entrepreneurs, start-ups, and innovative businesses, providing training and strategic guidance, and working closely with incubators, accelerators, angel investors, and relevant public entities.
Mariel is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and MARQUES, serving on committees within both organizations. She is also a frequent speaker at start-up organizations, incubators, accelerators, investor clubs, and universities, where she shares practical guidance on IP strategy and business growth.
With a keen interest in technological innovation and process improvement, she is constantly seeking ways to enhance workflows through technology. Mariel has authored articles on topics such as the metaverse and artificial intelligence, always striving to stay at the forefront of innovation. Her goal is to optimize internal processes while providing the best possible protection for her clients’ assets in the face of rapidly evolving challenges.
Committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, Mariel is part of several women’s leadership organizations and currently serves as an ambassador for Fundación Flor — an organization dedicated to increasing inclusion and diversity in decision-making positions across companies in Latin America.
